Worksite evaluations represent the best the field of ergonomics can offer with regard to person-to-person intervention and outreach, and as such they should be the centerpiece of any sound ergonomics program. While on line assessment can be effective in promoting general awareness to the employee and identifying potentially high risk employees to management, on line assessment is no more effective than the questions that are asked and the untrained observation of the employee answering the question. Simply put, on line assessment lacks the keen eye and situational awareness of a trained ergonomics professional. Even when evaluated by an on line tool, any employee deemed to be medium to high risk for injury should always be re-evaluated by a trained professional.
